Unincorporated Renton Residents Rejoice: Future Holds Fewer Potholes, Fresh Pavement

King County will repair 11 miles of roadway starting Aug. 20

Residents in unincorporated Renton: There will soon be fewer potholes in your future!

Several unincorporated roadways will get a complete makeover this season as King County kicks off its annual pavement overlay program beginning Aug. 20.

In all, 11 miles of roadway near Maple Valley, Renton, Redmond, Woodinville and Duvall will be repaved with a new layer of asphalt. The process will include patching cracks and potholes, grinding away worn surfaces, rebuilding damaged roadbeds and shoulders, and repairing drainage systems before the new pavement and fresh striping is applied.

Most of the overlay work will occur daily during non-peak travel periods to minimize disruptions. However, residents are advised that some night paving will occur on Northeast Woodinville-Duvall Road beginning Monday (Aug. 20) to avoid adding to daytime congestion on the busy roadway. The work will occur between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. daily and should be wrapped up by Labor Day. The remaining paving activity should be completed by October.
