Tigard Offers City Manager Position To Renton's Assistant Chief Administrative Officer

City of Tigard, Ore. offers Marty Wine a position as city manager. Negotiations are still underway.

The decision does not necessarily mean that Wine will leave Renton, said Communications Director, Preeti Shridhar.

“She emerged as a top candidate and received an offer. Negotiations are still underway,” she said Thursday. “She hasn’t accepted or made any indication here that she is leaving.”

Wine did not return a voice mail message left by Renton Patch for comment.

The City of Renton hired Wine in May 2006. During the last five and a half years Wine has been involved in a number of key projects including “every aspect” of the Benson Hill annexation, original negotiations with the King County Library System for the library annexation and “Renton Results” a performance-based accountability system that is tied to the City’s budget.

Other efforts Wine has worked on include the continued coordination with the court system, the City’s cable franchise agreement, efforts to incorporate diversity, oversees day-to-day operations and most recently coordinated the community survey that will be rolled out next week via phone and the internet.

“It’s a huge accomplishment to be selected,” Shridhar said of Tigard’s offer to Wine.
