Strike Update 4: Teamsters Local 117 Submits Proposal To Waste Management

Waste Management is currently reviewing a proposal it says the union submitted late Sunday night, July 29.

The strike at Kirkland-based Waste Management that continues today, but early this morning a company spokesman said there is some possible movement.

Robin Freedman, a representative of Waste Management, told Patch that Teamsters Local 117, which represents the workers, submitted a proposal late Sunday night, July 29, and the company is currently reviewing that proposal.

Meanwhile, Waste Management has brought in a planning to focus today on commercial pickups in its coverage area.Β Waste Management said it is also arranging to hire qualified local replacement drivers it identified in a job fair last month.
