School Board Embarks On Superintendent Search

The board will hold a study session and special board meeting Tuesday, December 18 at Kohlwes Education Center, 300 SW Seventh St. in Renton.

The Renton School Board will begin its search for a new superintendent this week.

Current Superintendent Dr. Mary Alice Heuschel announced her resignation in November after being names Governor-elect Jay Inslee's chief of staff.

The board will hold a study session and special board meeting Tuesday, December 18 at Kohlwes Education Center, 300 SW Seventh St. in Renton.

During the 4:30 p.m. study session, the board of directors will interview superintendent search firm candidates who have submitted a request for proposal and who meet the requirements of the process. The meeting is open to the public; however, no public comment will be taken.

A special board meeting will begin at 7 p.m. where the board is expected to vote on a superintendent search firm. Public comment will be taken at this meeting.

The board selected Vera Risdon as the interim superintendent at a December 6 meeting.
