Renton to Celebrate Arbor Day April 27 with May Creek Trailhead Planting

The city of Renton is seeking volunteers to help plant over 1,000 native trees and shrubs along the city's newest trail running along May Creek.

Renton's annual Arbor Day and Earth Day celebration is on Saturday, April 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to a city news release.

Renton officials say the event at the city's new May Creek trailhead, at 4260 Lake Washington Blvd. North, will honor the community's commitment to the environment. Renton has been recognized as a Tree City USA since 2008 and promotes the planting and care of trees which is one of the most effective ways to protect the environment through reducing soil erosion, producing oxygen and improving wildlife and fish habitats.Β

Volunteers from neighborhoods, schools, businesses and service clubs are invited to join in the planting of over 1,000 native trees and shrubs to restore and beautify the urban forest.
