Renton Embraces National Night Out

Renton residents are encouraged to 'get to know their neighbors' on August 2, National Night Out, in an effort to improve safety and prevent crime.

Mayor Denis Law and the Renton City Council have proclaimed August 2 as "National Night Out."

Today, Tuesday, August 2, neighborhoods throughout the City of Renton will take part in a city-wide effort to create safer neighborhoods. Renton residents are invited to take part in the nationwide event, now in its 28th year. This year the City of Renton will host the 4th annuaul local celebration at Earlington Park, 272 Thomas Avenue Southwest, from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Stop by for food, safety games, and kids activities

Renton’s National Night Out party-goers will get a sneak peak at a new art project sponsored by PSE called "Fridgeasaurus." An arts educator, employed by PSE, has worked with kids at local day camps, including the Renton Boys and Girls Club, to turn eight recycled refrigerators doors into a final art piece, now known as Fridgeasaurus. The art work will tour PSE’s service area this summer to promote the utility’s free refrigerator and freezer recycling program as well as appliance rebates and contests.
