REMINDER: Liberty Park Library Building Open House Is Tonight

Details about the proposal will be presented at an open house on Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 5-7 p.m. at the Renton Community Center.

Renton residents have another chance to weigh in on the future of the downtown Renton library. This time members of the hope more people turn out to share their opinions.

Less than 30 people attended the first open house on Nov. 15.

City of Renton staff and library building steering committee members will host the second open house on Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 5-7 p.m. at the Renton Community Center in Room A.

The steering committee began meeting in late September 2011 to gather public feedback, brainstorm, tour other community centers and determine a future use for the Liberty Park Library building.

The group will share their ideas and comments about three new possible uses of the Liberty Park Library Building, including an environmental interpretive center, arts/cultural center or a β€œthird place” community gathering space.

Renton citizens are encouraged to attend and share their ideas, comments and concerns about the future uses of the Liberty Park Library Building.

Representatives of the Library Building Steering Committee and staff will be present to provide information and answer questions.

The City and steering committee also invite community members to complete an online survey to provide additional feedback about the three proposed uses of the library building. The survey will be available on rentonwa.gov from Feb. 10-21.
