Shari Song, a real estate agent from Newcastle, announced Monday that she will run for King County Council District 9.
The position is currently held by Reagan Dunn of Maple Valley. Dunn, the son of the late Congresswoman Jennifer Dunn, has held the position since 2005.
King County Council District 9 includes the southern portion of Bellevue, Newcastle, Renton, Enumclaw, Kent, Maple Valley, Black Diamond and Covington.
Song's campaign issued the following announcement:
Newcastle – Long-time business woman and community leader, Shari Song,
has entered the race for Metropolitan King County Council, District 9.
Song, a Realtor with Prudential Northwest Associates, brings over
twenty years of experience working and living in the county and has
achieved recognition as the Federal Way Soroptimist International
Woman of Distinction Award and King County Recognition for Community
“I am passionate about my community and want to bring my decades of
experience to serve the residents of King County. With the huge
growth that we are experiencing it is important that there is someone
with on-the-ground knowledge of what’s happening. There are
immigrants, seniors and young couples with children - all working hard
to make a go of it.” Song stated.
“We all want the same things – a safe and decent home, good social
services, and reliable transportation. I am committed to working
tirelessly for the people of King County. This is not a job that I am
looking at as a stepping stone to something larger, but an opportunity
for me to support my community and create a better government for many
years to come.”
