Mayor Proclaims Oct. 17-21 Women In Business Week

On Friday, Oct. 21 at Merrill Gardens from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. the group will honor Becky Evans as the "2011 Woman of Achievement," and Terri Briere as the "2011 Woman of the Year."

Renton Mayor Denis Law has proclaimed Oct. 17-21 as “Women in Business Week.” On Monday evening at City Council, he presented the proclamation to members of , including President Laurel Winston, and co-chairs Irene Roberts and Lisa Fischer.

On Friday, Oct. 21 at from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. the group will honor Becky Evans as the “2011 Woman of Achievement,” and Terri Briere as the “2011 Woman of the Year.”

The awards are based on contributions the women have made to the local community, to business in general and to other women. Briere and Evans were selected by a panel of community leaders. Both award recipients are scheduled to speak at the Friday luncheon.

Lunch is $15 for members, and $20 for guests who register in advance. Walk-ins are $5 additional at the door. Contact Irene Roberts at (425) 277-2434 for reservations, or use the Renton BPW web site, www.rentonbpw.org, to make an online reservation and to pay for lunch.
