Let Your Budding Artist Shine Across The State

The Office of the Secretary of State encourages fourth and fifth-grade students to submit original artwork themed "If I could vote..."

Children aren’t able to vote, but they can still take part in politics — from an artistic perspective.

The Office of the Secretary of State invites students in fourth and fifth grades to submit their original artwork themed "If I could vote..."

“Secretary of State Sam Reed is personally committed to increasing voter participation, especially among young people. Secretary Reed hopes that by sponsoring kids' program such as the art contest, Washington’s youngest citizens will learn to appreciate our democracy and choose to participate as voters when they turn 18,” according to the Secretary of State ‘s website.

The winning art will be featured on the cover of the next Washington State Voters' Pamphlet. Last year 3.5 million copies of the pamphlet were distributed statewide. The winning artist will also receive a surprise visit at their school from Secretary of State Sam Reed.
