I-90 Express Lanes Closed Sunday for Danskin Triathalon

The Sunday-morning race will take over the I-90 center lanes until 11:30 a.m. and cause intermittent closures later that afternoon.

The Washington Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is warning drivers the I-90 express lanes will be closed on Sunday, Aug. 14 from 4 to 11:30 a.m. for the Danskin Triathlon. The lanes will open to westbound traffic by 11:30 a.m. and remain open westbound until 2 p.m., close for an hour and then reopen in the eastbound direction by 3 p.m. 

The reversible lanes — intended to assist the flow of traffic during busy travel times — are usually open for eastbound traffic from 2 p.m. Friday until midnight on Sunday.

WSDOT has also announced the following I-90 lane closures over the next few weeks:

  • Saturday, Aug. 27 -  The I-90 express lanes be westbound from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. due to the weekend closure of the SR 520 bridge. The lanes will open to eastbound traffic by 8:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, Aug. 28  The I-90 express lanes be open in the westbound direction from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. The lanes will open eastbound by 3 p.m.
  • Until further notice - The I-90 reversible express lanes are reduced to one lane near Island Crest Way for construction.
