How to Register to Vote in Renton

In honor of National Voter Registration Day, we're giving you all the information you need on how and where to register to vote, including a link to Washington's new Facebook voter registration tool.

If you haven’t yet registered to vote, get it off your to-do list now.


Six million people didn’t vote in the 2008 elections because they either did not know how to register or because they missed the voter registration deadline.

The voter registration deadline for Washington is Oct. 6 for mail-in registration and updates and Oct. 8, 2012 for online registration and updates. The US Postal Service has confirmed that mail will not be processed or postmarked on Sunday, October 7, or Monday, Oct. 8. Registrations mailed on these days will be postmarked October 9. Registrations postmarked Oct. 9 do not meet the Oct. 8 deadline.

To be eligible to register to vote, you must be:

  • 18 years old by Election Day (Nov. 6).
  • A United States citizen.
  • A legal resident of the state of Washington.
  • Not under the authority of the Department of Corrections.
