County Council To Hold Final Public Hearing On 2012 King County Budget

More than 100 people testify at three evening hearings

After hearing testimony at three evening hearings, the Metropolitan King County Council will hold a final public hearing on the proposed 2012 King County Budget Monday, November 7 at 11 a.m. in the Council Chambers on the 10th floor of the King County Courthouse. The Council meeting and public hearing will be shown live on King County TV on Comcast and Broadstripe Cable Channel 22, and online at: www.kingcounty.gov/KCTV.

The Budget and Fiscal Management Committee held three evening meetings after receiving the Executive Proposed 2012 Budget from County Executive Dow Constantine on September 26. Hosted by Councilmember Julia Patterson, Chair of the Budget Committee, more than 100 people shared their budget priorities at the meetings in Issaquah, Kent and Seattle at the King County Courthouse. Many who attended spoke in support of continued funding for human service programs.

The Budget Committee’s three panels— General Government, Public Health and Safety, and Physical Environment—have completed their review of criminal justice and health and human service agencies along with their assessment of the budgets of all the separately-elected officials and general government operations.
