City To Break Ground On Rainier Avenue South Improvement Project

Groundbreaking for Rainier Avenue South Improvement Project set for March 20 at 10 a.m.

WHAT: Groundbreaking ceremony for the final phase of the Rainier Avenue South Improvement Project. Rainier Avenue South serves as the major north-south thoroughfare through downtown Renton, connecting South King County and South Seattle to Renton. When completed, this last piece of a $42 million improvement project of Rainier Avenue will result in improved transit mobility, upgraded traffic safety, and enhanced pedestrian safety.

WHO: Featured guest speakers include: Renton Mayor Denis Law; Washington State Senator Margarita Prentice; State House Transportation Committee Chair Judy Clibborn; King County Councilmember & Sound Transit Vice Chair Julia Patterson; and McLendon Hardware President Gail McLendon.

WHEN: 10 a.m., Tuesday March 20, 2012.

WHERE: South 3rd Place & Rainier Avenue South, parking lot, 440 Rainier Avenue South.
