Unattended Candles Likely Cause Of Home Fire

The Seattle Red Cross is assisting a family of seven who were displaced by the fire.

King County Fire District 20 (Skyway Fire) responded Friday night, Oct. 7, to a house fire in the 7500 block of S 120th Street just after 5:15 p.m.

Upon arrival the Skyway Fire engine found a split-level home with smoke and flames coming from the southwest corner. Two occupants, who were home at the time of the fire, were waiting outside. Six engines, one ladder, and two battalion chiefs from Skyway, Renton and Tukwila responded along with King County Medic One.

The Seattle Red Cross is assisting the family of seven with housing, food and clothing. According to one of the occupants, the fire may have started with a candle that was left unattended. Damage to the home is extensive.
