Trufant Foundation Items Still Missing Following Arrest

Police still seek a number of mini-helmets and autographed footballs stolen on May 19 in Renton, valued in the range of several thousands of dollars.

A Seattle Police Department SWAT team arrested the 43-year-old suspect early Wednesday morning inside a red barn on the outskirts of Renton, according to KOMOnews.com.

Detectives served a search warrant in unincorporated King County east of Renton, and recovered some of the property taken in the May 19th theft of a U-Haul truck in Renton.

Detectives first learned of the man when a tipster came forward after buying what was later found to be stolen computer equipment, according to police.

That U-Haul truck had contained items from the Trufant Family Foundation’s Dress to Impress Gala and Auction, including large amounts of sports memorabilia.

Not all of the stolen memorabilia has been found; a number of mini-helmets and autographed footballs are still missing. Police are asking the public, memorabilia dealers, and collectors to notify local Police via 911 if there is any immediate information about the missing memorabilia.

For information regarding this theft that is not time-critical, please contact Det. Robert Onishi at (425) 430-7529, reference case #2013-05372.
