Suspect in Renton, Issaquah Shootings Apparently Commits Suicide in Skyway

The car driven by John L. McKay was found on the 13000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Skyway, and he is dead from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Renton Police said.

King County Sheriff's Sgt. Cindi West said a man suspected of shooting or assaulting three people in Renton, and who is also the suspect in an Issaquah-area shooting Saturday, appears to have shot himself.

Authorities found the Chevy Aveo driven by John L. McKay on the 13000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Skyway, and he is dead from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Renton Police said.

Earlier on Saturday, McKay is suspected of shooting his former mother-in-law, who's believed to be in her 60s, at her house in the 13400 block of 209 Ave. S.E., which is between Renton and Issaquah. She was shot multiple times in the back and transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

A short time before that, Renton Police responded to a call of gunshots in the 4100 block of N.E. 5th Street. They found an unconscious man who had been shot. Police located the man on the deck of a neighboring home, owned by former City Council candidate Mark Martinez.

Altogether, three people in Renton were transported to area hospitals with injuries. An adult male victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center with critical injuries, and two adults were taken to Valley Medical Center to be treated for injuries due to being β€œpistol whipped,” according to Renton Police.Β  The victims are known to McKay and were targeted by him.
