Instead of talking to them through a car window, or over the phone; get a little positive face time at the "Tip A Cop" Fundraiser at Red Robin in The Landing on Saturday March 26 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Proceeds will go toward the Special Olympics.

The Renton Police Department has participated in the fundraiser for the last several years, and expects about 10 to 15 officers will work for donations in support of the Special Olympics, in addition to Renton Police Chief Kevin Milosevich, and several employees.

Officer LeAnn Whitney, this year's event coordinator, said Special Olympics athletes have participated in past Tip a Cop events, and may lend a helping hand again this year.

"I really love this department and working in this City, plus the cause is so important," she wrote in an email to Renton Patch.

Last year, the Renton Police Department raised about $1,400, and hopes to meet the same, or better amount this year, Whitney wrote.

This year the Tip a Cop event went national, thanks to all the wonderful work by Washington state Police Officers and citizens who have supported the fundraiser.

"Please come out and enjoy some great food, and use this event to interact with Renton's Finest," Whitney said.

Don't be shy, only food-order tickets will be issued.
