Students Face Discipline Over School Gunman Hoax

The prank caused Carriage Crest Elementary School to be locked down.

Three students will be disciplined for their role in a hoax that led authorities to last month.

Two Kent School District students made up a story about a man with a gun at the school and were able to convince a third student to “earnestly make a report of what was actually purposely inaccurate information," district spokesman Chris Loftis told the Kent Reporter.

The school, at 18235 140th Ave. S.E. in the Fairwood area, was locked down for less than an hour while authorities searched room by room before determining it was a hoax.

The district wouldn’t give any details about the discipline. The King County Sheriff’s Office, which sent a SWAT team, decided not to pursue charges, the newspaper reported.
