This press release was provided by KCFD 20:

King County Fire District 20 responded to an apartment complex in the 13400 block of Martin Luther King Jr Way Tuesday evening for a report of a Sprinkler Water Flow Alarm just before 8 p.m.

When firefighters arrived they found fire on the balcony of one apartment unit with the sprinkler system activated and flowing water. The fire was nearly extinguished by the sprinkler system.

The King County Sheriff's Office determined the fire to be accidental due to a young child playing with a lighter. That child has been forward to a Juvenile Fire Setter Program with King County Fire District 20. There were no injuries and damage was limited to a small portion of the balcony.

Damage is estimated at $5,000.
