Skyway Remembers 9/11

Remembrance includes the unveiling of a special plaque at the Firefighter Memorial.

King County Fire District 20 (Skyway Fire) invites its community to join in a remembrance event for September 11, on the tenth anniversary of the tragedy, on Sunday, September 11 at 8 a.m. at the Skyway Fire Station Firefighter Memorial, located at 12424 76 Avenue South in Skyway.

The 9/11 remembrance includes the unveiling of a special plaque at the Firefighter Memorial to honor the firefighters and police officers who responded to the 9/11 tragedy.

“The days following 9/11 our community came to the Firefighter Memorial to place flowers, gifts and light candles as their way to grieve,” said Dave Nelson, Skyway Fire spokesperson.

“We are planning a program that will give our community a time to reflect and grieve again as we all remember 9/11,” he said.

Veterans of Foreign War and Ladies Auxiliary Post 9430 and the King County Sheriffs’ Office will also participate in the remembrance. More local officials are also expected.
