King County Fire District 20 (Skyway Fire) invites its community to join in a remembrance event for September 11, on the tenth anniversary of the tragedy, on Sunday, September 11 at 8 a.m. at the Skyway Fire Station Firefighter Memorial, located at 12424 76 Avenue South in Skyway.
The 9/11 remembrance includes the unveiling of a special plaque at the Firefighter Memorial to honor the firefighters and police officers who responded to the 9/11 tragedy.
“The days following 9/11 our community came to the Firefighter Memorial to place flowers, gifts and light candles as their way to grieve,” said Dave Nelson, Skyway Fire spokesperson.
“We are planning a program that will give our community a time to reflect and grieve again as we all remember 9/11,” he said.
Veterans of Foreign War and Ladies Auxiliary Post 9430 and the King County Sheriffs’ Office will also participate in the remembrance. More local officials are also expected.
Additional information on the program will be updated on the Fire District’s, web site www.kcfd20.org and their Facebook page, King County Fire District 20.
