The fire started on an unattended stove, according to the occupant of the house, who had been cooking dinner.
Kitchen fires are preventable, Nelson wrote. Avoid an unintended fire by staying alert, remaining in the kitchen when while cooking food, using a timer, and turning off the stove when not in the kitchen, even if only for a few minutes.
