Skyway Fire Chief Finalist Is Rick Chaney

The King County Fire District 20 (Skyway Fire) Board of Commissioners have selected Rick Chaney to be the next Fire Chief pending a successful background, medical, physiological, and contract agreement. Chaney is currently a Battalion Chief with South King Fire and Rescue (Federal Way Fire) where he has worked since 1979.

Chaney will now go through pre-employment requirements including contract negotiations with the fire commissioners. Chaney replaces current Fire Chief Dave Crossen who will be retiring after 40-plus years in the fire service.

Chaney is a graduate of Wilson High School in Tacoma and has several degrees in the fire service.
