Renton Woman Injured in Motorcycle Accident

A motorcyclist was killed and his passenger, a 54-year-old Renton woman, sustained serious injuries after a collision on southbound Interstate 5 near Southcenter Boulevard Sunday afternoon.

A motorcyclist was killed and his passenger, a 54-year-old Renton woman, sustained serious injuries after a collision on southbound Interstate 5 near Southcenter Boulevard Sunday afternoon.

According to a Washington State Patrol memo, the motorcycle was southbound on I-5 at about 5:47 p.m. and approaching the Southcenter Boulevard exit when it struck the gorepoint curb and lost control, ejecting both riders. 

The woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center for her injuries. The cause of the accident remains under investigation; drugs or alcohol were believed to have been involved. The roadway was closed for nearly three hours for investigation.
