Renton Woman Drowns on Grayland Beach While Daughter Waits in Car

Incoming tide had surrounded the victim's car with her 8-year-old daughter inside.

A Renton woman who drowned Sunday at a Grayland beach has been identified.

The Tacoma News Tribune reports that 36-year-old Annie Banh of Renton went fishing after parking her car on the beach, instructing her 8-year-old daughter to stay in the car.

Pacific County authorities determined Banh had drowned accidentally.

Banh's father told KIRO that she enjoyed surf fishing but had in the past been caught in dangerous situations. However, she had friends who went with her to help pull her to safety. On Sunday, she opted to go alone, and she didn't know how to swim.

According to a Q13 report, Banh's daughter was in their car when police arrived and the tide was starting to come in, submerging the tires.
