Renton Police May Pay Educational Visit to Bar Near You Saturday Night

RPD is participating in a south King County emphasis patrol during which they might stop in and chat with bar staff if they find out where a drunk driver was served.

Renton police will participate in a program called “Home Safe Bar” Saturday night, during which they might pay a visit to any bar that serves too many drinks to a customer, according to mynorthwest.com.

It’s part of a drunk driving emphasis patrol on March 9 by several police agencies in south King County, including Auburn, Federal Way, Kent, Seatac, Burien, Renton, the Washington State Patrol and the State Liquor Control Board. Officers plan to ask people they pull over for DUI where they were served.

"I don't think there's anything better than being able to … sit down with the staff of a liquor establishment and be able to say, ‘OK, this individual was just at your establishment,’" Kent Police Sgt. Robert Constant told mynorthwest.com.
