Renton Police Arrest Woman, Teen For Residential Burglary

Residential burglaries are on the rise as the holidays approach.

The Renton Police Department arrested a 23-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl for residential burglary on Thursday in the Highlands.

Bellevue Police, a Kent K9 unity and the King County Sheriff’s department assisted Renton in the search for an arrest of the burglars, both of Seattle.

Police initially received a call on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 1:10 p.m. for a residential burglary in the 4500 block of NE 19th St. The victim reported that he heard the sound of knocking at his front door. When he did not answer, he then heard the door being forced open, according to a statement from the Renton Police Department.

The home resident confronted three people in his home, all of which fled to a getaway car waiting outside. Police are still searching for the remaining suspects.

A King County Sheriff’s Deputy patrolling the area after another recent residential burglary in the area saw a car matching the description of the burglary getaway car. He attempted to stop the vehicle, which fled down a dead end street. All suspects ran.

A Kent Police K9 unit responded and tracked two of the suspects from the car.

The holidays mean an increase in residential burglaries. Call 9-1-1 to report unfamiliar people in the area who appear suspicious, knock on doors for no apparent reason, or enter non-public areas such as back and side yards.
