Renton Police Arrest Bank Robbery Suspect

Renton Police arrested a Kent man Thursday in connection with the Aug. 23 robbery of a U.S. Bank branch in downtown Renton, according to a press release.

Renton Police arrested a Kent man Thursday in connection with the Aug. 23 robbery of a U.S. Bank branch in downtown Renton, according to a press release.

At about 3 p.m. on Aug. 23, the man shown in surveillance photographs entered a U.S. Bank branch in downtown Renton.  After a few minutes, he approached a teller and presented a demand note, in which he demanded money and claimed to be armed.  The teller surrendered cash from her till, and robber fled the bank on foot.

Renton Police investigated the robbery, and detectives were able to identify the suspect as a 21 year old Kent resident.  Members of the Renton Police Department’s Special Enforcement and Directed Enforcement Teams arrested the suspect yesterday afternoon near his residence, without incident.  The case has been submitted to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the suspect remains in custody.
