Renton Man Sentenced to 69 Year Prison Term for 2011 Bus Shelter Shooting

Say Keodara, 19, was convicted in May of first-degree murder and three counts of first-degree assault.

Say Keodara insisted on Friday he did not commit the crimes he was convicted of last month, even as he faced a 69-year prison sentence for a robbery attempt at a Seattle bus shelter in September 2011 that left one man dead and three other people wounded.

His sentence was expected to range between 78 to 98 years, but The Seattle Times reports the prosecutor pursued 69 years because of his youth. Keodara's attorney still called the charges by the prosecution "vindictive," a result of her client's turning down an initial plea deal.

On May 20, a jury convicted Keodara, 19, of Murder First Degree and three counts of Assault First Degree. All four charges included firearm sentencing enhancements. He was also convicted of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

Keodara reportedly tried to rob three homeless men at the bus shelter near South McClellan Street and Rainier Avenue South in Seattle and became angry when they didn't have any valuables or cash.
