Jayson Broderson-Matthai is charged with seven counts of Identity Theft in the 2nddegree, two counts of Possession of Stolen Property in the 2nd degree, and one count of Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd degree.

After spending a couple weeks in jail, 32-year-old Jayson Broderson-Matthai of Renton got another set of charges that could add to his growing rap sheet.

The new set of charges — are in addition to the charges he was already in jail on — include possession and use of credit cards stolen from Miss Washington and for possession of a Tacoma Fire jacket.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department filed the charges on May 3 after an extensive investigation surrounding the theft of the current Miss Washington’s car and personal items inside it, in addition to other car prowls that occurred in the area.

According to police, the suspect or suspects stole Miss Washington’s car from outside a home in the City of Edgewood. The vehicle was found less than two hours later abandoned outside of a motel in the City of Puyallup, but a crown, pageant gowns, and sashes were missing from the vehicle. Credits cards, an iPad, and personal items were missing from the car when it was found. Other car prowls in the area resulted in the theft of a Tacoma Fire jacket.

Sheriff’s detectives obtained surveillance video of two men using the stolen credit cards at an ATM, Lowes and WalMart stores in Federal Way. Detectives were able to identify both of the men seen on the video, and determined that only one of the men actually used the stolen credit cards and was wearing the firefighter’s jacket.  That man was identified as Broderson-Matthai of Renton.
