Officials Caution Drivers To Slow Down On Rain Slicked Roadways

The forecast for Sunday and Monday again calls for cloudy skies and a chance of rain. Summer weather — sun and temperatures in the 70s — is expected to return by mid-week.

 

Friday's rain showers wreaked havoc on Renton traffic.

Renton Fire and Emergency Services responded to two late-morning accidentsinvolving multiple cars on SR-167 near the intersection of I-405.

The first call came in around 11:45 a.m. for a three-car accident on northbound SR-167. All three cars were able to pull off the side of the road before emergency personnel arrived, allowing traffic to creep by. One patient was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries, according to officials.

A second call came within five minutes of the first for a six-car accident on southbound SR-167, also near the intersection with I-405. Several people sustained bumps and bruises from the multi-car collision, but no one was transported to the hospital.

The crashes were likely related to the rain-slicked highways, in addition to the drivers not paying attention to the road conditions, officials said.
