No Injuries in Skyway House Fire

Firefighters responded fully involved house fire Wednesday morning on the 12200 block of 56th Place S.

Firefighters responded fully involved house fire Wednesday morning on the 12200 block of 56th Place S, according to a press release.

The blaze was reported just after 5 a.m. to the single story home. A family member awoke to the smell of smoke and got his son out of the house before family took over the front of the house. They were unhurt and staying with family. 

Crews from King County Fire District 20 (Skyway Fire) made an initial attack while Renton firefighters cut holes to vent the fire which had already spread to a crawlspace. Tukwila fire crews also responded.

The fire was put out within 30 minutes and the King County Sheriff Fire Investigation Unit determined the cause to be unintentional; however a direct cause was not detected. Damage is estimated at $42,000.

More than 30 fire personnel responded to the call along with units from King County Medic One and Zone 3 Rehab.
