NFL Football Memorabilia Stolen From Trufant Foundation in South Renton

Theives allegedly stole a rental truck filled with football memorabilia belonging to NFL cornerback Marcus Trufant after he hosted a fundraising gala in support of his foundation.

Renton police are appealing to the public to help locate and return football memorabilia owned by former NFL cornerback Marcus Trufant after the valuables were stolen on May 19.

According to police, a U-Haul truck containing memorabilia and supplies from the previous night’s Trufant Family Foundation’s “Dress to Impress” fundraising gala and auction was stolen from a South Renton hotel parking lot.  The truck was recovered in the Lake Desire area of unincorporated King County, between Renton and Maple Valley; the truck’s cargo area had been emptied of all contents.

Founded in 2003, the Trufant Family Foundation. The Foundation works to help make dreams come true for disadvantaged youth and their families, and to build a personal connection and involvement with individuals and community programs that provide service to people who are most in need.

Among the items stolen were a number of autographed items.  These included Seahawk footballs, rookie trading cards, collages, photographs, bowling shoes, bowling shirt, mini Seahawk helmets, and a Jacksonville Jaguars mini helmet, all signed by Marcus Trufant.  Footballs signed by NFL players Brian Russell, Deion Grant, and Golden Tate were also taken.

The Renton Police is asking the public, memorabilia dealers, and collectors everywhere to be aware of this theft, and to notify your local Police via 911 if you have any immediate information about the missing memorabilia.  If you have information regarding this theft that is not time-critical, please contact Det. Robert Onishi at (425) 430-7529, reference case #2013-05372.
