Neighbors Rally To Fix Highlands Home Damaged In October Shooting

For more information about Sunday's work party, email Mark Martinez at mark76wa@comcast.net or call (425) 301-7522.

Following a violent domestic violence shooting spree last month, neighbors in the Highlands are rallying to restore a damaged rental home.

Mark Martinez, who lives next to the house where the Renton shooting occurred, is working with his neighbors and the Home Owners Association to organize a restoration effort to fix bullet holes in the siding and replace a shot-out sliding glass door.

"I have been able to procure all the material except a sliding glass door," he wrote in an email to Renton Patch.Β "I have several leads on being able to get a new or recycled door but if you know of someone who recently remodeled and has a door in good condition please let me know."

He's looking for people with all skill sets and a willingness to help, in addition to someone with specific skills working with vinyl siding.
