Marymoor 5k Set to Benefit Renton WSP Trooper With Cancer
The "More Birthdays for Renee 5k Fun Run" is being held this Sunday at Marymoor Park in Redmond to help fund ongoing treatment for Trooper Renee Padgett.
A 5k fun run and walk will be held at Marymoor Park this Sunday to help fund cancer treatments for Washington State Patrol (WSP) trooper Renee Padgett.
Padgett, a Renton resident and mother of two, is a 21-year veteran with WSP. Last May, she was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a rare form of blood cancer. Her treatment regime includes multiple rounds of radiation, chemotherapy and two stem-cell transplants.
In 2006, Padgett launched Homeward Bound, a WSP program that places posters of missing children on the sides and backs of tractor-trailers. KING 5 highlighted Homeward Bound and Padgett's fight with cancer in a recent news segment.

Sunday's event begins at 9:30 a.m. at parking lot I in Marymoor Park. A 1-mile kids' race will follow at 10:30 a.m.
Registration for the 5k is $30 for adults and $25 for youth 12 and under. The 1-mile youth fun run is $10.
