Maple Valley Stabbing Story Fabricated

The teen who reported being attacked and stabbed while jogging in Maple Valley last week has admitted she made it up.

The 15-year-old girl who reported being attacked and stabbed while jogging on a trail in Maple Valley last Wednesday has admitted to detectives that she made the story up, according to a King County Sheriff's Office press release today.

Detectives working the case said parts of the girl’s story did not match up with evidence found during the investigation. Detectives would not go into detail about the specifics of the evidence but did say that when they presented the information to the girl she admitted that she had lied.

“While it is unfortunate that the false report created anxiety and a great deal of work for our deputies, we are pleased that there is closure for the community and that the student finally did do the right thing,” said King County Sheriff Steve Strachan.
