Man Wanted in Connection with Death of Renton Woman Charged with Assault

Linzy Jerome Hopkins remains at large but this week King County prosecutors charged him with assault and unlawful gun possession, according to SeattlePI.com.

King County Prosecutors this week charged a man wanted in connection with the shooting death of a Renton woman in May with two counts of second-degree assault and unlawful gun possession, according to the Seattle PI.

Linzy Jerome Hopkins is believed to have escalated what started as a fist fight at Liberty Park on May 22 into a gun battle where 20-year-old Lonnie Reynolds was caught in the crossfire and died after being transported to Harborview. Reynolds was not believed to have been a participant in the fight.

Neither investigators nor prosecutors have indicated which gunman fired the shot that killed Reynolds, according to the Seattle PI, but both shooters had different caliber handguns.

No one has been charged directly with Reynolds' death at this time.

Prosecutors are requesting a $2 million bail if Hopkins is found and taken into custody. He is a seven-time convicted felon, according to the Seattle PI, and may have fled to Mexico.

Shortly after her daughter's death, Flaime Reynolds and Kebin Fears took to local media to ask the shooter to come forward

"She was just at the wrong place at the wrong time, and it's just devastating," said Fears. "You come to a park and there's people who have guns. My daughter didn't have a gun. She doesn't own a gun."
