ORIGINAL STORY: Monday, Feb. 21 @ 6:30 p.m.

The Renton Police Department is searching the Renton Highlands for a stabbing suspect tonight following the report of an injured man in the area.

At 3:42 p.m., police received a call from a witness who saw an African American man in his late 20s or early 30s bleeding from the chest in the 2900 block of NE 7th Street, said Public Information Officer Terri Vickers.

The caller saw the man as they drove by, but the caller was not involved in the incident.

Police responded within minutes, arriving at 3:45 p.m. The Renton Fire Department was also dispatched, Vickers said.

A police K9 unit was also called, she said, but did not end up conducting a search.

An email from Mayor Denis Law, which appeared on Council member Randy Corman's blog tonight, reported that the victim may have been transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment.

No other details were immediately available. Renton Patch will post an update on the incident as more information becomes available.
