Man Shot, Killed At Jet Vista Apartments In Renton

UPDATE — Sept. 8 at 12:10 a.m.

Officials from the Renton Police Department issued a press release early this morning about the shooting at Jet Vista Apartments late Thursday night, and confirmed that another victim was taken to Valley Medical Center shortly after the first 9-1-1 call.

"A second adult male subject, who is reported to be in surgery with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, was dropped off at Valley Medical Center. These shootings are believed to be related," Officials said.

Police located the car that transported the second gun shot victim to the hospital, and are currently talking to witnesses.

"The shootings do not appear to be random in nature.  It is unknown at this time if the shootings are gang related," according to the statement.

ORIGINAL STORY — Sept. 7 at 10:50 p.m.

A man was shot and killed in Renton Wednesday evening behind the Jet Vista Apartment Complex.

Renton Police and Renton Fire and Emergency Services responded to the shooting in the 200 block of Taylor Avenue Northwest in Renton. The call came in at 8:40 p.m.

First responders found a young black man with a gunshot wound to the chest and began CPR; however, the man died at the scene, said Battalion Chief Karl Rufener.

A second shooting victim was dropped off at Valley Medical Center shortly after the shooting, and may be related, he said.

It was a quiet night for Dawn Zagorski, a clerk at the nearby Rainier Avenue AM/PM until a customer came into the convenience store and announcemed a shooting had taken place nearby.

"He said heard three pops and a loud 'uhhhh,'" she said, while taking a smoke break and looking at the cluster of emergency vehicles parked at the intersection of Renton and Taylor avenues.

The shooting occurred behind the building and the age and identity of the victim is unknown at this point, said Sergeant Steve Ritchie, who could not provide any additional details at the scene.

Valley Medical Security tracked down the driver of the vehicle that dropped of the second victim and initially fled, according to ValleyCom radio traffic. The vehicle is registered to a SeaTac address, and Renton officers are currently interviewing the driver.

Around the same time, there was another shooting at WalMart. Details about the shooting came over the ValleyCom radio waves. The victim was also transported to Valley Medical Center.

Also, KIRO news is reporting on a third shooting that took place in the Whitecenter neighborhood tonight in the 9400 block of 11th Ave Southwest.
