Man Arrested in Renton After a Police Chase

The car left the road and crashed into brush after the driver allegedly tried to run over a police officer.

A man was arrested Monday and taken to Harborview Medical Center following a police chase in Renton that ended in a crash.

Accoring to KIRO television and other emergency agency sources, the Washington State Patrol was pursuing a northbound car on Interstate 405 in Renton at 9 a.m.

The driver lost control of the vehicle, striking several several other vehicles at Northeast 30th Street. The fleeing driver then took the Northeast 44th Street exit and found himself at a dead-end road on Jones Avenue Northeast in the 3200 block.

According to unconfirmed reports, the driver then attempted to run down the trooper and the officer opened fire, possibly striking the fleeing driver.

The car plunged off an embankment and came to a stop. The driver then was arrested and transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with non-life-threatening injuries, according to emergency workers at the scene.
