Update: Kentwood High Early Dismissal After Threat Promises "Blood Bath"

An email sent this morning to the school in neighboring Covington made threats of a" hostage take-over and blood bath," according to the King County Sheriff's Office.

Update, Sat. 3 p.m.: The King County Sheriff's Office has given the school the "all clear" to reopen the school for normal activities.

According to Seattle PI.com, the emailed threat came from a former student who sent the message after hacking into another student's account.

Sheriff's investigators are working with the Kent police on locating the suspect.

"This is a serious matter," said West. "We believe it's a hoax at this point, but we're going to take all necessary precautions. ... We take these things seriously. This is a crime ... it's not funny, and this person will likely be charged with making threats."

Original Story: King County Sheriff's deputies are at Kentwood High School in Covington this morning investigating death threats made to staff and students by an unknown person.

School officials notified the KCSO that an email sent this morning made threats of a” hostage take-over and blood bath.” The school conducted a voluntary early dismissal shortly after the email was received as a precaution.

KCSO spokesperson Sgt. Cindi West said early information indicated that the email was sent from a former student that hacked into another former student's account and sent the email. 

"We are working with Kent PD to locate the suspect," she said in a news release.

KCSO K-9 units are currently enroute to the scene and numerous deputies conducting a search of the school.
