With jury selection complete, opening statements began on Wednesday in the trial of Curtis J. Walker, who is charged with first degree murder for the alleged shooting death of 12-year-old Alajawan Brown on April 29, 2010 in the Skyway neighborhood.
If convicted, Walker may face up to 40 years in prison.

Jury selection is expected to be completed on Wednesday morning, Jan. 11 in the trial of Curtis J. Walker, who is charged with first degree murder for the alleged shooting death of 12-year-old Alajawan Brown on April 29, 2010 in the Skyway neighborhood.
Opening statements may occur around mid-morning on Wednesday before Judge Richard Eadie at the King County Courthouse in courtroom W-728, according to the King County Prosecuter's website.
On the one-year anniversary of Brown's death, his family and friends gathered to thanks the community members and first responders who rushed to their son's aid. The memorial, which occured on April 29, 2011, took place in the parking lot of 7-11 on the corner of S 129th Street and Martin Luther King Jr Way — the very spot Brown was killed by a gunshot wound.
