Fire District 20 Honors Dedicated Service Members

The Department honored its most dedicated and passionate volunteers during Skyway Fire's annual banquet Saturday.

Volunteers are the lifeblood of Fire District 20 (Skyway Fire). In addition to their elevtive role as volunteer firefighters, many also split their time working full-time jobs and raising young families.

The Department honored its most dedicated and passionate volunteers during Skyway Fire's annual banquet Saturday, including:

  • Five Years of Service: Firefighters John Jaworski, Troy Miller, JothamShort and Joshua Swidler; and Lieutenants Aaron Gregory and John Jeppesen. 
  • Ten years of service: Commissioner Jeff Doppman, Adminisration Assistant Sharon Greer and Firefighter Kevin Correa.
  • Forty-Five years of service: Safety Officer Don Henry. 
  • Officer of the Year: Lt. John Jeppeson who joined the district in 2007.
  • Firefighter of the Year Firefighter: Kellison Dabling who joined the district in 2009.
  • Also honored was Fire Chief Dave Crossen who will retire soon.

Skyway Fire also honored the passing of two great people who had a large impact on the fire district:

  • Lloyd "Bud" Garrett passed on January 7, his wife Shirley attended and told old stories.
  • Art Larson was a Deputy Chief for Renton Fire, his son Brad was a volunteer firefighter.
