Renton Fire and Emergency Services was busy with Memorial Day Services, barbecue fires and other emergency duties over the weekend, including the rescue of two ducklings. Here's the story from the Renton Fire and Emergency Services Facebook page:

"On Memorial Day E16 was dispatched to assist RPD in a daring rescue of two baby ducks trapped in a storm drain. RPD had been working on this for a few hours. RPD had come up with a plan to use water from E16’s hose line to float the ducks to the next storm drain where they would catch the ducks in a net. Engine 16 used an 1 ¾ hose hooked to a hydrant to flush the ducks to the next drain across the street. Both ducks where caught in the net and then released.
This effort was an excellent example of two Renton departments working together using cooperation and unified command in this heroic endeavor to save these little ducklings."
