Cause of Skyway Commercial Fire Undetermined

A fire near the Skyway Fire Station at the Gospel Temple in the 12600 block of Renton Ave South was quickly extinguished just after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

King County Fire District 20 and Renton firefighters responded to a commercial fire just to the south of the Skyway Fire Station in the 12600 block of Renton Ave South just after 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Skyway firefighters were alerted to the fire by a King County Sheriffs Deputy who was driving-by. The fire was located two buildings south of the Skyway Fire Station at the Gospel Temple. Firefighters made quick assessment of the fire and limited the fire damage to the exterior of the main building and an adjunct building.

The Gospel Temple's building is right up against another building that also suffered electric damage.

Minor smoke and water damage was reported inside the affected building. Both buildings had to have their power cut due to a down power line and severe damage to their power supply.

The King County Sheriffs Fire Investigation was unable to find a cause of the fire that resulted in $45,000 in damage to both buildings.
