Frankie Roe- After a history of life in gang culture and being labeled at risk, Frankie found strength and courage to turn her life around. She not only overcame her own past, but made the commitment to use her story and experiences to serve at risk youth and inspire them to break free of the harsh realities they had experienced thus far. Frankie joined the non-profit group Powerful Voices to use her education, passion, and real world experience to give back to girls who are where she used to be. Powerful voice fosters adolescents girls' development by providing programs and promoting social justice so girls can realize their dreams, engage in their communities and shape a better world. AS Frankie worked closely with the young women at Powerful Voices, she began to hear a recurring dream. They wanted to express themselves as writers, poets, and authors. Frankie then founded Young Urban Authors. This organization empowers aspiring writers by equipping them with literary skills that can lead to rewarding careers as published authors. Participates of Young Urban Authors have already spawned over a dozen published books. More Importantly, the lives of the many young people have been permanently altered for the better because of Frankie Roe.---Stephanie Owens
