Does Rolling Stone's Cover Photo "Celebritize" Alleged Boston Marathon Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev?

The emotional wounds created by the Boston Marathon bombing are still fresh, yet Rolling Stone magazine decided to feature the lone surviving bombing suspect on its front cover this month.

Appearing on the cover with a messy, rocker-esque mop hairdo with shaggy bangs partially covering his eyes, the portrait of Dzhokhar Tsaraev looks more like the reveal of a young, up-and-coming musician and less like the mug of an alleged mass murderer.

What was Rolling Stone thinking?

Is this what American entertainment news consumers want and expect, or is this just one more incident where a major media outlet went too far to sensationalize a truly horrific event?

New Hampshire Patch blogger, Frank Zabierek, was so angered by the magazine cover that he's asking the public to boycott the magazine's advertisers and abstain from purchasing the latest issue

"It’s truly an insult to everyone’s intelligence to view Dzhokhar Tsarnaev as some kind of a “victim” in this case," he wrote.

Instead, Zabierek is asking people to support those affected by the bombing.
