Alley Cats

A fenced yard makes good neighbors. Areas without fences are crime infested and harbor criminals because of the easy access and escape routes in unfenced area. I am the eye witness.

Many homes in the downtown Renton area do not have a fenced off yard in the alley. This is unsafe for the residence, the community, and effects Renton's marketability. It also affects our businesses being they run through these alleys and pivot from yard to yard to escape the police.  No one knows these yard loop telport doors like a thug. It puts the residents and the police in grave danger since the thugs have easy memorized escape routes through this area. The unfenced back yards is unsafe and promotes crime, break-ins, by these stealthy criminal thugs slithering through the residence yards.

In my own experience, in living there for over 10 years, I seen time and time again where night crawlers, stealth through the yards after the lghts are out in the home.

Naming a few occasions where the police walked on foot up and down my street trying to find a criminal at 3 am as i watched through my dark house scares me still. It scares me for them, the police officers, of which I honor highly and respect.

I was on my knees with my arms over the back of the couch, crouthcing, watching through my picture window. This is dangerous. It is dangerous for our officers and us and much of it can be detered with a fence law. The police do not know the loops of yards, the fenced and unfenced. They walk down blind in the middle of the street, in the dark without their flashlights on as not to draw attention.

If an old grandmother seen all this, beleive me so did the thugs and the friends they have in this sweet unfenced area that harbor them when they get into trouble. Three times I witnessed escapes on my street.

The person had a warrent.  As the police were on their way (scanners) she fled from one house to the house across the street. She fled through the house into the garage and out the other alley where she was driven out of sight. The police were at the door at the same exact time as she was in the house she fled to across the street. As they knocked on the door talking to the related resident, the girl fled into the other friends alley to be driven away by the other neighbor. Am I suppose to get killed to get my city cleaned up?

They have police scanners to know when the police are coming because on many occasions I have witnessed mad rushes out of a resident and a few minutes later the police arrive.

Many of us elderly and others see crime but are too afraid to report it for fear of retaliation since these are our neighbors and steal out of our yards on a weekly basis.

Our new Landing is a wonderful hereitage of memories for our children and families. The landing is near this "unfenced zone."

Its a little law and can do a lot of good for an entire community making it safer for all of us. All homes are to have their back yards fenced and alleys groomed. Drugs and no fences should not go together from the eye witness.
