“This year we've submitted a request to the National Wildlife Federation to Certify Newcastle as Community Wildlife Habitat. It's a community-wide project that will give Newcastle and residents an honorary national status,” said Stiller. The program will launch at Newcastle Earth Day where attendees can come by the National Wildlife Federation booth, meet Ranger Rick, and register their yards as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat, which will help achieve the certification.
Earth Day is a global event that promotes healthy living, sustainable practices, such as recycling, encourages environmental stewardship, and offers "green" products and services from businesses.
