Southcenter Detours Start Next Week
Construction to improve access around Southcenter is expected to last eight months and will close portions of Southcenter Parkway.
Renton drivers who regularly commute near the Southcenter area will want to take note that construction begins next week for the city of Tukwila’s Southcenter Access Project.
The project is a major reconstruction on Southcenter Parkway (between Westfield Southcenter Mall and Interstate 5) between Strander Boulevard and Tukwila Parkway.
When this project is complete, it will improve traffic flow on Southcenter Parkway and reduce traffic congestion at intersections and I-5 off-ramps.

Starting March 28, crews will close portions of Southcenter Parkway and Klickitat Drive as well as the northbound I-5 off-ramps to southbound Southcenter Parkway. These roads and ramps will reopen in November. The northbound I-5 off-ramp to northbound Southcenter Parkway will remain open during construction.
Southcenter-area businesses are open during construction.
